Searching for
Midis
I am often asked where I find
the music for all of my web pages. Since there is no
one particular site that I frequent the most, I am
going to share with you my little web secret.
I use a
search engine compilation page.
The search engine compilation page that I use allows
you to search for songs by title, and sometimes by
artist as well. While there are many different options
listed I usually find the song that I want by using the
first search field. You may use any of the search
engines listed to find your songs. By replacing the
"yankee doodle" with the name of the song that you are
looking for.
Since I have only used the first search engine listed
on the page, I am including a brief descrption of it's
use. I hope that you will find this information
useful.
Using the Search Engine
- Erase the name "yankee doodle" from the first
field.
- Type the name of song or the artist into the first
field and press return.
- You will be taken to a screen with groups of the
song titles that match your entry.
- Click on the group of entries you want to view.
- Songs will be listed individually by midi name and
length.
- Click on the song you want to listen to.
- You will be taken to the site where the midi is
located.
- Find the midi listing and click on it.
- To find the URL of the song, press the "Go To"
button, click on "Show Last" and copy down the URL.
- And viola! You have your song.
The above directions are for WebTV. If you are using a computer, the same instructions would apply, except the part about the "GoTo" button. On a computer you would just ceck the last visited URL. That should give you the URL for the song. If anyone else has different instructions available to use this with a computer, please e-mail them. Any help in this area would be greatly appreciated!
