Highlight Feature

For those of you who already know how to cut, copy and paste, you know how the higlight feature already works. If you do not know how to cut, copy and paste, please do take a look at our page explaining how to do so.
Have you ever been in the middle of writing a letter, posting a message or even writing HTML and thought, "I would love to move that text from here to up there?". Ever since WebTV introduced cut, copy, and paste you have been able to move text from here to there!
Maybe you have written something and wanted to delete whole paragraphs at once. Are you tired of just sitting there and having to press delete for hours? What happens when you press delete one too many times? You end up losing a piece of information that you wanted to keep!
How can you be sure to only delete the amount of text that you want? How can you move that text? By using the highlight feature!
Below you will find the instrucions for both moving and deleting large amounts of text. Just follow the simple instructions and you will soon be an expert!
Deleteing Text
- Move your cursor to just before the first part of the text you want to delete.
- Hold down the Shift key, then press on the arrow keys (down, up, left or right) to highlight the text that you wish to delete.
- If you highlight too much just reverse the action of your arrow keys. (If you only want a part of a line just arrow over until the part of the line you want is highlighted. If you highlight too much, just arrow back.)
- After the section you want to delete is highlighted hold down the Cmd key and press the Delete key. This will delete ALL the text (and spaces) in the highlighted area.
- You're done!
Moving Text
- Move your cursor to just before the first part of the text you want to move.
- Hold down the Shift key then press down on the arrow keys (down, up, left or right) to highlight the text that you wish to move.
- If you highlight too much just reverse the action of your arrow keys. (If you only want a part of a line just arrow over until the part of the line you want is highlighted. If you highlight too much, just arrow back.)
- After the section you want to move is highlighted hold down the Cmd key and press the C key. This will copy ALL the text (and spaces) into your terminals temporary memory.
- You will then need to delete the text from where it is currently located. Hold down the Cmd key and press the Delete key. This will remove the text.
- Position your cursor in the new area you wish your text to be.
- Hold down the Cmd key and press the V key. This will place the stored text onto the page.
- You're done!
